The Hardware Engineering Group has a requirement for a Digital Designer with experience in printed circuit board design and embedded programming. Circuit board designs consist of FPGAs, microprocessor and digital signal processing components.

Responsibilities include:

· Cost estimating
· System requirements analysis
· Component selection
· Printed circuit board design
· Programmable logic design
· Firmware coding
· Verification testing
· Manufacturing support and systems integration and test


Experience in the following areas would be assets:

· Familiarity with the GNU tool chain and Linux
· Analysis tools such as Matlab
· ARM processors
· Xilinx FPGAs and their associated tool chains
· Sophisticated modulation systems such as QAM, PSK and OFDM
· Forward error correcting systems (turbo codes, LDPC, concatenated codes...)
· MPEG transport
· RF Design


This position will be of interest to candidates with:
· A minimum of five to ten years of work experience and
· A bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering Physics, or related discipline.

The ability to obtain a Secret security clearance and meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program is mandatory.

Spacecraft Operator Position

SED Systems has the requirement for a Spacecraft Operator for the RADARSAT Earth Station facility located in Saskatoon. The Operator performs satellite tracking operations, routine and corrective maintenance of the 10 meter antenna and station equipment, along with other manufacturing related activities.

Preferred applicants will be a graduate of a 1-year Electronics Technician or a 2-year Electronics Engineering Technology program. Previous experience with RF systems or satellite communications systems and operations is an asset. The appropriate candidate will be able to work in an independent environment with little supervision as well as in a team environment. Shift work is required.

If you are interested in an internship position and you are a third-year University of Saskatchewan student enrolled in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Physics we encourage you to register with the University of Saskatchewan Student Employment and Career Center. If you are a third-year University of Saskatchewan student majoring in Computer Science we encourage you to register with the Department of Computer Science Internship Coordinator.

If you are interested in a co-op position and you are a second-year or third-year University of Regina student enrolled in Electronic Systems Engineering or Computer Science, we encourage you to register with the University of Regina Co-operative Education office.
